Job Purpose

The Principal Energy Policy Analyst will play a key role in developing and implementing our energy efficiency policy strategy, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on our objectives. This role will require strong analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to lead cross-functional teams and build trust-based relationships with regulators and external partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement energy efficiency policy strategies to align with government agencies' policies and regulations;
  • Analyze climate-related data to inform internal and external stakeholders;
  • Support the development of energy efficiency plans and reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements;
  • Track and communicate relevant regulatory filings and orders, providing insights to internal teams and stakeholders;
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs and priorities, applying critical thinking to advocate for energy efficiency policy solutions;
  • Stay up-to-date on New York's climate and energy policies, including the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act and the Energy Efficiency and Building Electrification planning process;
  • Present to internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and advisory councils, to build trust-based relationships and drive business outcomes;
  • Lead the optimization of product and service development to support regulatory requirements and meet customer needs;
  • Prepare regulatory strategy papers, reports, and summary documents to integrate energy policy improvements and compliance activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, coupled with 10+ years of experience in energy policy, regulatory affairs, or rate case development;
  • Comprehensive understanding of the electric and gas regulated industry, with a sound knowledge of local and national energy policy, energy efficiency program planning, design, implementation, and rate case development;
  • Experience interfacing with State and/or Federal agencies, with a proven track record of leading energy efficiency policy initiatives;
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communications skills, with the ability to represent the company in regulatory forums;
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data, identifying patterns and trends to inform business decisions;
  • Experience leading large stakeholder workgroups, building consensus and achieving actionable outcomes;
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products and relevant software.
