Laboratory Animal Facility Supervisor

Columbia University seeks a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Supervisor to join our Animal Facility Operations team. The successful candidate will assist the Supervisor in providing direction for the day-to-day operation of the laboratory animal facility, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in scheduling, monitoring, and supervising the animal husbandry and sanitation duties of approximately 15 technicians to ensure program and facility compliance with established laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Provide training for new hires, documenting training and progress to inform decisions on retention or dismissal.
- Initiate, conduct, document, and monitor progressive discipline when necessary, in a timely and consistent manner.
- Maintain and verify the accuracy of employee time sheets for biweekly payroll production.
- Act as a facilitator of research by providing expertise to facility users in husbandry techniques and related resources.
- Work a Saturday to Wednesday schedule.
- Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training, and experience, plus two years of experience in a laboratory animal facility.
- Certification at the AALAS LATg level is preferred.
