Position Summary

The Product and Labeling Inspector Lead plays a vital role in maintaining the highest quality and efficiency standards within Empower Pharmacy's production framework. This position is integral to our core values of people, service, quality, and innovation, focusing on the meticulous inspection and labeling of products to ensure compliance with rigorous industry and internal standards. As the Product and Labeling Inspector Lead, your responsibilities will include coordinating the transfer of products from the cleanroom to inspection, labeling, and packaging areas, as well as managing the movement of products to and from quarantine, retention rooms, and refrigerated zones. You will conduct visual inspections for defects, reject non-conforming units, and label products in strict accordance with master batch records and standard operating procedures. Your role will also involve operating all relevant equipment, performing necessary calculations, maintaining thorough documentation, and entering data into performance trackers to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Additionally, you will act as the primary training and qualification lead for new hires in inspection, labeling, and packaging processes, providing mentorship and support to newly qualified personnel. Your involvement in various LEAN manufacturing initiatives will further contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with the operations team to manage the transfer of products from the cleanroom to the inspection, labeling, and packaging areas.
  • Oversee the transfer of products to and from quarantine, retention rooms, and refrigerated areas.
  • Lead training and qualification for new hires on inspection and labeling processes, including associated equipment as designated by the supervisor.
  • Act as a secondary departmental contact for the Product and Labeling Supervisor.
  • Conduct visual inspections for defects and reject non-conforming units according to established procedures.
  • Inspect, label, and package products in compliance with master batch records and departmental standard operating procedures.
  • Operate all equipment related to inspection, labeling, and packaging processes.
  • Perform essential calculations, maintain thorough documentation in line with good documentation practices, and input data into performance trackers.
  • Mentor and support newly qualified staff in inspection, labeling, and packaging operations.
  • Prepare work areas and supplies before operations and maintain a clean and organized workspace throughout the shift.
  • Support cross-functional teams in qualifying equipment in the packaging area through installation, operational, and qualification protocols.
  • Perform ancillary tasks that support the manufacturing process, including material preparation, label printing, inventory management, and various LEAN manufacturing tasks (6S, Gemba, Kaizen).
  • Ensure adherence to all required hygienic practices per company policy.

Experience and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in product inspection, labeling, or packaging is required.
  • Preferred experience in current good manufacturing practices or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Basic computer knowledge preferred (Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Experience with visual inspection, labeling, and packaging equipment and systems preferred.
