Position Summary

The Product and Labeling Inspector Lead plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency within Empower's production operations. As the Product and Labeling Inspector Lead, your responsibilities will include coordinating the transfer of products from the cleanroom to the inspection, labeling, and packaging areas, as well as managing transfers to and from quarantine, retention rooms, and refrigerated sections. You will conduct visual inspections for defects, reject non-conforming units, and label products in strict compliance with master batch records and standard operating procedures. Your role will also involve operating all relevant equipment, performing necessary calculations, completing thorough documentation, and entering data into performance trackers to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Additionally, you will serve as the primary training and qualification lead for new hires on inspection, labeling, and packaging processes, providing mentorship and support to newly qualified staff. Your involvement in various LEAN manufacturing initiatives will contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Communicate with the operations team to coordinate product transfers from the cleanroom to the inspection, labeling, and packaging areas.
  • Manage the transfer of products to and from quarantine and retention rooms, as well as refrigerated areas.
  • Act as the primary training and qualification lead for new hires in the inspection and labeling processes.
  • Serve as a secondary departmental contact for the Product and Labeling Supervisor.
  • Conduct visual inspections for defects and reject non-conforming units according to established procedures.
  • Inspect, label, and package products in accordance with master batch records and department-specific standard operating procedures.
  • Operate all equipment related to inspection, labeling, and packaging processes.
  • Perform essential calculations, maintain thorough documentation, and input data into performance trackers.
  • Mentor and support newly qualified staff in inspection, labeling, and packaging operations.
  • Prepare work areas and supplies methodically before operations and maintain a clean workspace throughout the shift.
  • Support cross-functional teams in qualifying equipment in the packaging area through installation, operational, and qualification protocols.
  • Perform ancillary tasks that support the manufacturing process, including material preparation, label printing, inventory management, and various LEAN manufacturing tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with all required hygienic practices as per company policy.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in product inspection, labeling, or packaging is required.
  • Previous experience in good manufacturing practices or pharmaceutical manufacturing is preferred.
  • Familiarity with computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel) is preferred.
  • Experience operating visual inspection, labeling, and packaging equipment is preferred.
