Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Healthcare Coordinator to join our team at the University Medical Center of El Paso. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our nursing unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform general clerical and administrative duties, including medical record maintenance, order processing, and materials management.
  • Assist visitors, nursing staff, and members of the healthcare team with a high level of professionalism and courtesy.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
  • Perform Nursing Assistant duties under the direction of the Registered Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, or Management Associate.

Requirements:

  • Ability to use a multi-line telephone and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask, with a strong focus on organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in medical terminology.
  • Flexibility and ability to work independently with minimal supervision, with a strong focus on adaptability and change management.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with people over the telephone and/or in person, often in stressful situations, with a high level of courtesy and professionalism.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, patient medical records, and clinical documents.
  • Proficiency in hospital computer systems related to ADT order entry, requisitions, lab inquiries, and other computerized processes and related software/hardware applications.
  • Knowledge of clinical procedures and operations, as well as supplies, equipment ordering, and inventory control.
  • Clerical, word processing, and office skills, with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instruction and safety precautions.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Nursing Assistant or Health Unit Coordinator experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Nursing Assistant certification required.
  • Current CPR training program required.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an approved educational program for Nursing Assistants.
