Job Responsibilities and Qualifications

Role Summary:

This position is within an ICU Step Down Unit, where you will deliver professional nursing care to patients through the nursing process. Collaboration with healthcare team members, including physicians, is essential to ensure high-quality patient care.

Licensure and Certifications:

Preferred:

  • CCRN certification.
  • PALS certification.
  • TNCC certification.

Required:

  • Registered Nurse licensure in Texas or a compact state.
  • BCLS certification.
  • ACLS certification upon hire or within a 60-day grace period for staff transitioning from a medical-surgical unit.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum requirement: Associate Degree, Diploma in Nursing, or BSN.

Preferred Skills and Attributes:

  • Basic English literacy for transcribing physician orders.
  • Knowledge of body substance isolation protocols.
  • Strong listening and empathy skills to address the needs of patients and families.
  • Experience in acute care settings.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish.
