Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe separation of aircraft operating under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and Visual Flight Rules (VFR) from other aircraft within their designated airspace. This includes:

  • Utilizing radar and communication systems to implement radar separation standards and vectoring protocols.
  • Identifying and rectifying equipment malfunctions and interferences.
  • Providing pilots with essential instructions regarding speed, altitude, and direction to maintain safe distances between aircraft.

Advisory Services:

The role involves offering air traffic advisory services to pilots, which encompasses:

  • Issuing clearances for aircraft operations.
  • Communicating weather conditions and field status.
  • Delivering safety and traffic alerts.

Training and Development:

The position includes training responsibilities for developmental air traffic controllers and other personnel within the facility. This involves:

  • Conducting technical training sessions.
  • Participating in briefings and quality assurance activities.
  • Supporting staff specialists in their technical functions.

Supervision and Operations:

The individual will provide oversight for the continuous operation of the facility or area in the absence of a supervisor. Initially, the candidate will work under direct supervision, transitioning to independent operations upon certification for the required positions.

Employment Conditions:

Applicants must meet specific conditions of employment, including:

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Selective Service Registration for males born after December 31, 1959.
  • Compliance with drug testing requirements.

Qualifications:

To qualify for Certified Professional Controller (CPC) positions, candidates must have:

  • Facility rating or area certification in an ATO terminal/en route facility.

Additional Information:
