Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Air Traffic Control Operations Supervisor to join our team at the Federal Aviation Administration. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for planning and directing air traffic control operations within a terminal facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise a team of air traffic control specialists and provide guidance and support to ensure the safe and efficient flow of air traffic.
  • Plan and assign work to subordinate employees, setting priorities and schedules to meet operational needs.
  • Approve leave and provide advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
  • Evaluate employee performance and recommend performance ratings.
  • Resolve complaints from employees and refer group grievances to higher-level management.
  • Identify and arrange for developmental and other training needs of employees.
  • Improve production or increase the quality of work directed.
  • Adjust staffing levels and work procedures to accommodate resource decisions made at higher levels.
  • Recommend goals and objectives for the area and track accomplishments.
  • Communicate and reinforce diversity and EEO policies and programs in all areas of responsibility.
Requirements
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (Notification of Personnel Action) containing information in Blocks 15, 17, 18, 19, 22, and 24.
  • Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
  • Applicants must apply online via AVIATOR.
  • A one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required.
Qualifications
  • Candidates must show specialized experience.
  • Specialized experience is defined as:
    • Must have held an FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or above regional or headquarters positions for at least 1 year (52 weeks).
    • OR
    • Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an ATS facility.
    • OR
    • Must have held a MSS position for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility.
  • Candidates will be evaluated on four 'Managerial Selection Factors'. Managerial Selection Factors:
    • Candidates must provide separate narrative responses to address his/her experience in MWP Selection Factors 1 through 4.
Additional Information

This position is covered by the Department of Transportation's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. Any applicant tentatively selected for this position will be subject to pre-employment or pre-appointment drug screening. Persons occupying a 'testing designated position (TDP)' will be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing.

This position may be a Career Enhancement Assignment/Career Progression. The selectee(s) may be eligible for pay retention. Career Diversity is not enhanced when an employee is assigned to a staff or supervisory position in which they previously held on a permanent basis.

Position is covered under P.L for early retirement purposes. The person selected for this position must maintain medical clearance. Selection and placement are contingent upon waiver or completion of satisfactory security requirement.
