Position Overview:
The Air Traffic Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient separation of aircraft operating under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and Visual Flight Rules (VFR) within designated airspace.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide separation for aircraft during landing, departure, and overflight operations.
- Operate radar and communication systems to implement radar separation standards and vectoring protocols.
- Identify and rectify equipment malfunctions and interferences.
- Issue speed, altitude, and directional guidance to pilots to maintain safe distances between aircraft.

Advisory Services:
- Deliver air traffic advisory services to pilots, including operational clearances, weather updates, and safety alerts.
- Train and mentor developmental air traffic controllers and other personnel within the facility.

Supervisory Duties:
- Provide oversight for continuous facility operations in the absence of a supervisor.
- Initially work under direct supervision, transitioning to independent operations upon certification.

Employment Conditions:
- U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
- Selective Service Registration is required for male applicants born after December 31, 1959.
- Candidates must submit an SF50 form as part of the application process.

Qualifications:
- Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications by the closing date of the vacancy announcement.
- Specialized experience is required for Certified Professional Controller (CPC) positions, specifically having been facility rated or area certified in an ATO terminal/en route facility.

- The selected candidate may be subject to a background investigation and a one-year probationary period.
- Compliance with the Department of Transportation's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program is required.
