Compensation Overview
Annual Pay Range:
$134,000 - $249,600

At Infinera, your base salary is just one component of your overall compensation package. Actual compensation will be influenced by your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location. Position Summary
The Optical Integrated Component Group is seeking a qualified individual to contribute to the development of coherent and direct-detect optical modules for high-capacity data communication systems. The successful candidate will collaborate with teams focused on component design, system architecture, and optical engineering, engaging in testing, design validation, and process evaluation for next-generation pluggable modules in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of high-speed testing and RF test setups for coherent and direct-detect optical modules and sub-assemblies.
  • Design comprehensive test plans and algorithms, executing performance validation tests for modules.
  • Collaborate closely with ASIC, Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC), and module design teams, as well as the systems engineering group, to ensure the successful launch of new products.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong foundation in optical or electronic high-speed characterization.
  • Understanding of high-speed optoelectronic device characteristics and/or RF communication electronics.
  • Familiarity with coherent and direct-detect communication systems, including modulation formats and performance metrics.
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed optoelectronic characterization techniques and relevant equipment.
  • Understanding of active semiconductor optoelectronic device characteristics.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Matlab, C, C++, or Python for instrument control and data acquisition automation.
  • Experience in signal analysis and processing is advantageous.
  • Ability to construct, maintain, and troubleshoot complex testing hardware and software in a collaborative environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing thorough documentation.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Education and Experience
A PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant graduate-level or industrial experience in optical communications, photonics, or high-speed electronics is required. Candidates with a Master's degree and 3+ years of applicable experience will also be considered.
