Accounting Manager Position at MCS

Job Overview

Summary:

As an Accounting Manager at MCS, you will be instrumental in overseeing the month-end closing activities. Your role will encompass the preparation of comprehensive financial analyses, including interim and final financial statements along with supporting documentation, while ensuring compliance with GAAP accounting standards and fostering a robust internal control framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the monthly closing cycle, including the preparation and approval of journal entries for the business unit.
  • Ensure all financial activities adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Analyze and monitor accounting data to generate accurate financial reports and statements.
  • Prepare or authorize reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts and perform variance analysis.
  • Compile monthly financial statements and other reports for the month-end financial package.
  • Guarantee timely and precise financial reporting.
  • Manage payroll analysis and accounting for the business unit.
  • Maintain Fixed Asset records, ensuring accurate and timely transaction recording and related depreciation.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures while engaging in policy development or revision.
  • Produce daily cash and other management reports.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Assist in coordinating the year-end audit process.
  • Participate in year-end audits and other Finance-related projects, including process improvement initiatives.
  • Address ad hoc requests as needed.
  • Enhance systems and procedures, initiating corrective actions where necessary.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent professional experience.

CPA certification is advantageous.

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in general accounting and payroll.

Background in public accounting with a focus on strong internal controls is preferred.

Experience with Great Plains Software is a plus.

Familiarity with system implementations or upgrades is beneficial.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

ADA Specifications: Physical demands include standing, moving, operating with hands and arms, and occasionally lifting up to 15 pounds.

The work environment necessitates 8 hours of desk work in a climate-controlled setting involving computer and phone tasks.
