JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Engineering Change Specialist role is a hands-on position focused on supporting configuration management, change management, and release management activities. This role will collaborate closely with various departmental teams, including Quality, Engineering, Marketing, Manufacturing, and systems administrators, to facilitate necessary changes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, triage, and manage interactions with the engineering community and other departments to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and resolution of all Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) related to product development and manufacturing throughout their lifecycle.
  • Process change requests utilizing SolidWorks PDM, PLM (Synergy or equivalent), and ERP (Epicor or equivalent) systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure all changes are effectively implemented, versioning is accurately conducted, and dispositions are adhered to.
  • Monitor Engineering Changes through the review and release cycle, ensuring timely approvals and processing while maintaining proper configuration.
  • Work closely with the Manufacturing Change Specialist to guarantee data accuracy during the transition to Manufacturing and Epicor, occasionally serving as a backup.
  • Oversee changes to part/BOM data in ERP, enforcing governance processes and controls.
  • Follow up to confirm that changes have been implemented as specified.
  • Troubleshoot issues and provide guidance in resolving challenges with submitted change requests.
  • Administer the Configuration Management process in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Provide ongoing guidance to cross-functional personnel, delivering consistent service and sharing best practices with the PLM (Synergy) and ERP (Epicor) user community.
  • Prepare, schedule, and conduct Change Control Board (CCB) meetings.
  • Represent Document Control in meetings.
  • Develop and implement process improvements related to software configuration and deployment.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments through projects, meetings, and daily interactions to ensure the PDM and ERP systems are configured to support efficient and effective Change Management workflows.
  • Provide assistance and training to users as needed.
  • Be adaptable to changes in duties, responsibilities, and activities as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or Information Technology, along with experience in a Quality Management System. Alternatively, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Proven experience with change control and electronic document management systems.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, MS Word, Adobe (Pro), Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and other MS software.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot issues with electronic document management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks while assisting internal customers.
  • Commitment to providing a high level of service to internal customers.
  • Thorough understanding of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Bills of Operations (BOOs).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and material flow.
  • In-depth understanding of part activation and ECR/ECO processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Experience with ERP systems; knowledge of Epicor E10 ERP system is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-up abilities.

Other Requirements:

  • CMII certification is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Availability for occasional travel.
