About the Role

At EVONA, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our cross-functional engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing and building custom components, actuators, and sensing methods for various products and research areas, contributing significantly to the development of next-generation automated systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaboration and Product Development: Collaborate with the engineering team to develop and refine products, and support current product lines.
  • Design Knowledge and Testing: Build design knowledge through rigorous testing and qualitative analysis.
  • System Oversight: Oversee entire systems, ensuring part functionality and quality.
  • Design Reviews: Organise and coordinate design reviews.
  • Integration and Mentorship: Integrate efforts with electrical and software engineers, and mentor junior engineers in best practices.
  • Process Improvement: Implement process changes to align with company goals.
  • Documentation and Troubleshooting: Produce, maintain, and release drawings in the product lifecycle management (PLM) system, and diagnose and troubleshoot anomalies in fielded products.
  • Relationship Management: Maintain relationships with colleagues, suppliers, manufacturers, and contractors.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of practical experience in product design, machine design, automation, or robotics.
  • Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with articulated electro-mechanical systems, mastery of tolerance stack analysis, engineering drawing creation, and GD&T, expertise in cost-cutting strategies, value engineering, and vendor procurement.
  • Design Experience: Experience taking a complex product from concept through production, design experience for mass production (machining, sheet metal, welding, casting, molding, 3D printing).
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in SolidWorks (or equivalent), SolidWorks PDM, FMEA, and fabricating parts with machining tools.
