Position Summary
The Administrator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of both the assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. This role includes ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and acting as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies. The Administrator will develop and implement administrative policies and procedures that align with compliance standards and best practices in the industry. A key objective is to meet or exceed regulatory standards while ensuring resident satisfaction with the services provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead compliance efforts with regulatory requirements, including preparation for surveys and audits.
- Collaborate with the management team to set program goals aligned with the organization's mission.
- Direct response initiatives during regulatory evaluations and investigations.
- Maintain a positive representation of The Redwoods.
- Address resident and family concerns, directing them to appropriate team members.
- Analyze organizational performance and customer expectations to enhance services and processes.
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring accurate data management and record-keeping.
- Provide technical assistance related to hardware and software as needed.
- Prepare and present reports for organizational committees, including quality assurance groups.
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements and implement necessary changes.
- Manage special projects as directed by the CEO.
- Support change management initiatives with effective leadership.
- Ensure that all policies and procedures are current and develop new ones as required.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert in electronic medical records and generate reports as requested.
- Consult with the CEO on long-term operational plans for facility maintenance and improvements.
- Respond to concerns raised by community ombudsmen and other officials.
- Oversee financial performance, including revenue and expenses, for managed areas.
- Draft departmental budgets for CEO and CFO review.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid nursing home administrator license in California or be able to obtain one within six months.
- Must be licensed or certified as an RCFE administrator in California or be able to obtain certification within three months.
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field and a minimum of three years of experience in skilled nursing or assisted living is required; a master's degree is preferred.
- Familiarity with Title 22, OBRA, and operational policies for skilled nursing and residential care facilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient in using personal computers and software to troubleshoot and communicate technical issues.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and delegate tasks effectively.
- Experience in recruiting, training, and motivating staff.
- Understanding of aging-related issues.
- Ability to communicate sensitive information with professionalism.
- Proficient in basic computer applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and draft professional correspondence.
- Knowledge of organizational operations and departmental functions.
- Ability to interact diplomatically with residents, families, and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to handle office equipment and materials, including lifting up to 35 lbs.
- Frequent computer use and typing are essential.
- Work primarily in an office setting with minimal health and safety risks, while also interacting with residents and the public.
