JOB OVERVIEW:
In this role, you will utilize your healthcare and customer service expertise to assist in the blood collection process. This involves working collaboratively with your team to transport and set up equipment at collection sites, creating a welcoming atmosphere for volunteer donors, and adhering to all safety protocols while collecting vital blood donations for hospitals.

- Take the time to connect with donors personally – listen to their stories and help them understand the significance of their contributions.
- Work with your colleagues to foster a friendly and inviting environment, ensuring our volunteer donors feel comfortable returning.
- Maintain attention to detail consistently to ensure that the blood collected meets regulatory standards and can be safely transfused.
- May operate Red Cross vehicles and collaborate with the team to set up and dismantle equipment at donation sites. A minimum height of 60 inches may be required to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- To effectively serve our donors and community, staff work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays. Overnight travel may be necessary in certain locations.
- Schedules are provided two to three weeks in advance.
COMPENSATION:
- Starting pay rate $
- This position is governed by a union contract.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS (Minimum Requirements):
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Customer service experience and strong verbal communication skills are essential.
- A valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
- DOT certification may be necessary in some locations. If required, candidates must pass the applicable DOT physical and related requirements and obtain a medical certification of at least one year.
- Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push, or pull heavy items, good manual dexterity, and the capacity to sit or stand for extended periods. Adaptability to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes is also required. A minimum height of 60 inches may be necessary to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
- The American Red Cross conducts numerous mobile blood drives at various locations. All staff work as a team to set up and dismantle the equipment needed for these drives.
- Basic computer skills are required, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.)
- Prior leadership experience is a plus.
