Position Overview:

The Senior Controls Engineer will collaborate with fellow engineers, project managers, mechanical engineers, builders, technicians, and other stakeholders to design, implement, and document control systems for various automation and robotic applications.

Your responsibilities will encompass electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system design, simulation, as well as programming for PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and peripheral devices. Occasional travel for installation, startup, and equipment support will be required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop comprehensive designs for electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems in automated work cells.
  • Lead projects and manage project teams while ensuring adherence to Controls timelines.
  • Interpret and communicate customer specifications to deliver machinery that aligns with both customer and Axis Services standards.
  • Adhere to customer-defined design and programming methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with industry safety regulations.
  • Conduct Controls design and simulation presentations for internal teams, clients, and suppliers.
  • Create efficient code to enhance automated machinery performance.
  • Provide real-time debugging and support for automated systems at Axis Services and client locations.
  • Maintain effective communication with management and project teams regarding project developments.
  • Manage customer relationships and address requests professionally.
  • Coordinate with vendors to specify and procure key components.
  • Mentor and train junior Controls Engineers and interns.
  • Enhance standards and procedures within the Controls department.
  • Support electrical and build teams as needed.
  • Receive project assignments and guidance from the Controls Engineering Manager.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controls or automation-focused role.
  • Willingness to travel domestically as required.
  • Proficiency in programming with PLCs, HMIs, robotics (both pendant and simulation), motion control, and vision systems.
  • Experience in designing electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Preferred Software Skills:
  • Familiarity with RSLogix5000/500, Studio5000, TIA Portal, FactoryTalk, Ignition, ProView, AutoCAD Electrical, Robot Studio, Roboguide, Motosim, Keyence, and Cognex software.
Compensation:

The salary range for this position is competitive, with additional compensation opportunities including overtime pay, travel pay, year-end bonuses, and referral bonuses.
