Job Responsibilities

As a vital member of our pharmacy team, you will:

  • Receive and process both electronic and handwritten prescription requests from healthcare providers, ensuring accurate triage of documentation.
  • Assist in the receipt, fulfillment, and distribution of bulk medications and vaccines through our specialized systems.
  • Utilize automated pharmacy repackaging equipment to prepare medications in commonly prescribed quantities for patient dispensing.
  • Support inventory management for pharmacies catering to clients enrolled in various health programs.
  • Handle incoming calls with professionalism and direct inquiries as necessary.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to ensure smooth pharmacy operations.

Medication Preparation and Dispensing

Your role will involve:

  • Compounding, preparing, and dispensing medications and pharmaceuticals in compliance with established protocols.
  • Refilling prescriptions based on pharmacist instructions, verifying available refills, and ensuring accurate dispensing.
  • Labeling and packaging prescriptions, collecting necessary signatures, and processing payments.
  • Maintaining meticulous records and entering data into pharmacy management systems.
  • Ordering and stocking medications and pharmaceutical supplies as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Experience in processing third-party claims.
  • Proficiency in managing pharmaceutical inventory.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience in assisting pharmacists with prescription preparation.
  • Knowledge of data entry within pharmacy management systems.

Additional Considerations

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Experience working in a pharmacy environment.
  • Exposure to public health settings.
  • Skills in repackaging medications.
  • Familiarity with QS/1 database systems.
