Position Overview

The Cellular Therapy Laboratory Specialist plays a crucial role in executing intricate and specialized cellular and immunotherapeutic procedures. Responsibilities encompass a variety of tasks, including but not limited to cell separation, cryopreservation, quantification, and characterization of biological products intended for clinical applications such as bone marrow transplants and other immunotherapeutic treatments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in quality assurance and process enhancement initiatives within the Cellular Therapy Laboratory.
  • Assist in the organization of accreditation and vendor evaluations in partnership with program leadership.
  • Participate in collaborative meetings related to the program.
  • Contribute to the Quality Management Plan and adhere to components mandated by regulatory bodies.
  • Act as a liaison with Clinical Research Coordinators for departmental research trials.
  • Independently perform cellular product processing utilizing various techniques in cell culture and separation.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative assessments on cell therapy products, including flow cytometry, qPCR, and ELISA.
  • Ensure compliance with established standard operating procedures and policies, aligning with cGMP/cGTP, FACT, CAP, and AABB regulatory standards relevant to cellular therapy product production and analysis.
  • Identify and address issues that may negatively impact product or testing outcomes, following established protocols when performance criteria are not met.
  • Manage the handling of fresh and frozen cellular products for shipment and infusion.
  • Maintain strict aseptic techniques while working in a controlled clean room environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum: Two years of experience as a Medical Technologist.
  • Preferred: Experience in cell processing and cryopreservation.

Education:

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree and completion of an AMA-approved medical technology program.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Minimum: State licensure and/or national registration or certification in accordance with current federal and state regulations.

Special Skills:

  • Minimum: Basic computer proficiency.
