The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at St. John Fisher University seeks a highly qualified and experienced academic leader to serve as Chair. The successful candidate will provide strategic vision and leadership to the department, fostering a culture of excellence in teaching, research, and service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight and support for the department's curriculum and research initiatives, including course development, mentoring of course coordinators, assessment, and workload assignments.
- Recruit, hire, and retain faculty members to meet the needs of the program.
- Develop the department's annual budget request and salary adjustments for faculty and staff.
- Develop teaching, research, and service partnerships with external collaborators.
- Conduct annual reviews for department faculty and staff.
- Represent the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences on the Executive Committee.
- Engage in teaching and scholarship in areas of expertise and interest.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a pharmaceutical science discipline.
- Minimum of six years of academic experience, with a record of academic teaching, scholarship, and service qualifying for the rank of Associate Professor or higher.
- Strong time management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently or within a team.
- Adaptability in new and rapidly changing situations, with the ability to resolve issues from identification through resolution.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively work with multiple databases and student platforms.
- Experience in connecting and building rapport with students and faculty.
Supervision of Employees:
The Chair will oversee 8-10 faculty and staff in the department.
