Division Overview
The Decision and Infrastructure Sciences (DIS) division focuses on researching, designing, and delivering scientific tools and methodologies to enhance decision-making related to critical security, risk, and resilience issues. As a multidisciplinary laboratory, Argonne fosters a collaborative environment for interdisciplinary projects tackling complex technical challenges through the integration of natural, social, and computer science practices.
Position Summary
DIS is currently seeking an Energy Security and Resilience Analyst to contribute to our expanding missions in national security, energy security, and climate resilience. This role involves collaboration with various government entities, including DOE program offices, DOD, and state governments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop methodologies to gather and analyze pertinent energy sector data, presenting findings that accurately reflect energy sector risks at various scales.
- Conduct comprehensive analyses to produce written reports on energy security and resilience issues, including critical energy infrastructure.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in the energy sector, representing the division to sponsors and stakeholders.
- Identify and articulate the significance of energy security planning and response efforts for federal, state, and international entities.
- Lead initiatives aimed at educating the energy sector on climate resilience strategies, collaborating with external organizations and industry groups.
- Collaborate with experts across Argonne to generate assessments and reports for senior government officials.
- Support government sponsors in addressing a wide array of domestic and international energy sector threats and challenges.
Position Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required, along with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI or Q/SCI clearance.
- A degree in Energy Systems Engineering, Utility Management, Public Policy, or related fields is required; relevant experience may also be considered.
- Experience collaborating with DOE, DOD, and state/local governments on energy security and climate resilience is advantageous.
- In-depth knowledge of energy sector supply chains and risk assessment methodologies is essential.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information in accessible language for diverse audiences.
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members and lead independent analyses.
