Job Summary

The Tech Specialist will be responsible for analyzing system performance, providing support to the system administration and engineering team, and troubleshooting systems and operating systems. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience with installation, troubleshooting, and/or testing of electronic security systems, or an Associate's degree with 6+ years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze system performance and recommend improvements
  • Provide support to the system administration and engineering team
  • Troubleshoot systems and operating systems
  • Communicate with customers, manufacturers, vendors, and system administrators
  • Train system users and other system support personnel
  • Analyze and modify preventive maintenance checklists for system changes
  • Troubleshoot system performance issues and implement corrective actions
  • Organize and prepare detailed documentation of system performance, including service request records and analysis
  • Perform desktop hardware and operating system setup, imaging software loading, and antivirus updates
  • Conduct in-depth research and evaluate the research of Technical Specialists to evaluate existing and future systems
  • Provide on-site system support post-deployment
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Understand SOP and SOW documentation
  • Ensure test lab equipment is maintained
  • Interface with the engineering team to ensure design efficiency
  • Interface with internal and external customers, demonstrating excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Conduct research and development of entire systems and analyze all interoperability and constructability scenarios
  • Read blueprints, schematics, and statements of work (SOW)
  • Coordinate with field personnel and/or engineering teams to discuss potential installation issues
  • Answer support calls to help field personnel and system administrators with installation issues encountered on the job site
  • Conduct research and development on new system manufacturers, intrusion detection, and closed-circuit television systems
  • Perform all duties with minimal direct supervision

Requirements

  • Requires 8+ years of experience with installation, troubleshooting, and/or testing of electronic security systems with a high school diploma or GED
  • Or Associate's degree with 6+ years of experience
  • Requires substantial travel to project sites as required by customer and program manager to meet project deliverables
  • Proficient with Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge and/or certification with electronic security systems and applications like CCURE (Software House), Genetec, Lenel, Milestone, HID, Axis, 2N, Geutebruck, and/or other
  • Working knowledge and/or certification for general-purpose operating systems and virtualization platforms (Windows, Windows Server, Linux, VMware, CentOS, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Familiarity with physical security designs, standard operation procedures, and security operations
  • Working knowledge and/or certification with communications and network protocols and services, including TCP/IP, RS232, RS485, networking knowledge (TCP, UDP, RTP, RTSP, and others)
  • Certification in Lenel OnGuard and Bosch Video Management System preferred
  • Access Control certification CCURE 9000 Access Control System, Lenel, or others
  • Certification in DVTel/Flir Digital Video Systems, Genetec, Milestone VMS, Axis, or others
  • Experience and knowledge of networks, network equipment, and administration
  • Experience and knowledge of virtualization and cloud environments
  • CCNA, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ certifications or similar
  • Experience and skills in electronic security systems, databases, networking, and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills
  • Possess excellent organizational and file management skills and the ability to plan and execute administrative work with little supervision
