Elections Systems Integration Security Analyst

JOB SUMMARY: The Elections Information Systems Integrations Security Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting the Voter Registration System Administrator and the Elections Division. This position is tasked with collaborating with vendors to develop, improve, and sustain integrations between Georgia's Voter Registration & Election Planning System, GARViS, and other systems. Additionally, the specialist is responsible for evaluating and managing cybersecurity threats within the Elections Systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Engage in the assessment and upkeep of existing integrations, which encompasses testing, documentation, and execution.

· Serve as the primary contact for integration vendors concerning Elections Information Systems.

· Undertake limited project responsibilities and other tasks as directed to assist the Elections Information Systems & Database Manager in relation to integrations, system data review, and cybersecurity.

· Guide the ongoing enhancement of integrations and cybersecurity protocols to maintain technological and operational relevance.

· Collaborate with other members of the Elections Division and senior management to align business requirements and jointly devise solutions to intricate project challenges related to integrations and system security.

· Accountable for application and technical support of Electronic Ballot Delivery (EBD) tools, Ballot Tracking tools, and Electronic Poll Book tools.

o Conduct active testing of systems to detect errors or flaws in integrations.

o Collaborate with the Voter Registration System Administrator and vendors to rectify defects and issues related to these integrations.

· Compile and document technical specifics associated with integrations and any subsequent modifications.

· Document cybersecurity responses and enhancements undertaken.

· Identify security vulnerabilities within the Elections Information Systems.

· Actively assess systems to uncover cybersecurity risks.

· Assist in documenting persistent issues with system integrations as reported by state and county end users.

· Continuously learn about the architecture and logic of the Elections Information Systems.

· Review isolated data within the Elections Information System to provide insights on data integrity and accuracy.

· Recommend practices and protocols to mitigate cybersecurity threats.

· Develop security measures to protect Elections Information Systems from potential attacks and threats.

· Implement procedures to ensure compliance with security standards.

· Utilize strong written and interpersonal communication skills.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

· Proficient understanding of systems and software configuration and their application within a system environment.

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication with colleagues, internal/external clients, and management.

· Proficient in utilizing project management tools to monitor tasks and responsibilities.

· Capable of conveying technical information to a specific audience.

· Comprehensive understanding of the agency's change management processes.

· Knowledgeable about system design and associated business processes.

· Competent in drafting specifications for system processes.

· A meticulous approach to data and security challenges.

· Ability to interpret technical documents, as well as operational, policy, and procedure manuals.

· Skilled in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and following up on assignments with minimal guidance.

· Proficient in Microsoft products, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.

· Capable of documenting system modifications in accordance with business standards.

· Discreet when handling sensitive data.

· Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks to achieve objectives.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A solid understanding of technical terminology. Experience with Elections and Voter Registration Systems is essential.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor's degree from a nationally accredited college or university in computer science or a related field, or an associate's degree in a technical curriculum with a minimum of 3 years of recent relevant experience in an IT or application support role.

Bachelor's Degree *and* One (1) year of work-related experience OR Associate's Degree in Business Administrative Technology *and* Two (2) years of related work experience. Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
