Key Responsibilities:

- Independently performs the most advanced levels of clinical testing in accordance with established procedures and policies.
- Introduces and validates new tests in the laboratory that necessitate specific skills.
- Oversees the preparation of reagents, media, stock solutions, standards, and controls.
- Assesses the acceptability of specimens for testing based on established criteria.
- Computes results utilizing manual or computerized methods and accurately records testing outcomes.
- Monitors analytical schedules to ensure timely reporting of results.
- Evaluates routine and complex analyses prior to the release of patient reports, taking appropriate actions in response to critical values or unexpected results.
- Conducts scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Performs quality control checks and calibrations regularly, assessing results for acceptability.
- Selects and evaluates control materials using defined criteria, initiating corrective actions when necessary.
- Maintains accurate tracking and labeling of reagents and supplies, ensuring a safe and organized work environment.
- Trains and mentors staff in the proper execution of both routine and complex procedures.
- Collaborates with supervisory staff to schedule effective workloads and provides technical guidance to team members.
- Participates actively in staff and quality improvement meetings, contributing to ongoing development and enhancement of laboratory practices.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 6 months of direct experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required.
- Current State Clinical Laboratory Scientist license, if applicable.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance as needed.
- Capability to perform repetitive tasks and maintain focus for extended periods.
- Good hand-eye coordination is essential.

Skills:

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with colleagues and clients.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) is necessary.
- Other automation skills are advantageous.
