Job Title: Supervising Clinical Laboratory Technologist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervising Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at the Department of State Hospitals. As a Supervising Clinical Laboratory Technologist, you will be responsible for supervising the work of a large clinical laboratory, assigning, directing, and checking the work of laboratory personnel, including technologists and nontechnical assistants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the work of a large clinical laboratory
  • Assign, direct, and check the work of laboratory personnel
  • Confer with medical personnel and coordinate laboratory operations with medical staff requirements
  • Plan and implement technical clinical laboratory programs
  • Arrange for and conduct special research projects
  • Keep informed on current developments in the clinical laboratory field
  • Review laboratory procedures and develop and install necessary changes
  • Instruct workers in laboratory principles and practices
  • Evaluate worker performance and take appropriate action
  • Supervise and make bacteriological analyses of specimens for suspected communicable diseases
  • Make chemical analyses of blood and urine
  • Make smears, cultures, and other laboratory tests
  • Direct the charting, tabulating, and recording of tests
  • Make blood counts and estimate needs for supplies and equipment

Requirements:

  • Possession of a Clinical Laboratory Technologist license issued by the State Department of Health Services
  • Three years of experience in comprehensive clinical laboratory work involving making pathological analyses
  • Experience in Hematology, Urinalysis, Serology, Chemistry, and Bacteriology is highly desired

Working Conditions:

Face coverings are required while working on-site. Employees must follow current face covering guidance as issued by CDPH.

  • Background Investigation clearance prior to being hired
  • Medical Clearance prior to being hired
  • Clinical Laboratory Technologist's license
