Under the supervision of the Director of Counseling and Wellness, the Student Wellness Advisor is responsible for offering counseling, evaluation, crisis management, and referral services to college students, faculty, and staff. The Advisor engages in initiatives that address the needs of students; collaborates with faculty and staff regarding student-related issues; and delivers counseling services and wellness initiatives that positively influence student success. The primary objectives of the Student Wellness Advisor include contributing to a supportive campus climate, promoting mental health and well-being for all students, faculty, and staff, and empowering individuals to attain academic and professional goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitates counseling sessions for students, faculty, and staff, assisting them in identifying and understanding personal challenges that may impact their quality of life, education, or job performance.
  • Connects and refers individuals with needs beyond the Counseling and Wellness Center's capabilities to appropriate college and community resources.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with community referral organizations.
  • Responds to urgent situations and college crises requiring counseling support (e.g., classroom/group debriefing, supportive counseling).
  • Provides case management for students facing unique life challenges.
  • Assists in organizing programming and educational opportunities in areas such as unplanned pregnancy education, substance abuse education, and various mental health initiatives including suicide prevention and support for students with autism spectrum disorders.
  • Collaborates with various campus departments such as Student Life, Student Conduct, and Enrollment Support to enhance and promote student success.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development activities.
  • Maintains accurate and timely records within the Simple Practice EMR system.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.
  • Offers counseling services both in-person and through Telehealth platforms.
  • Travels to designated campuses as required to provide counseling services, with flexibility to return to the main campus as necessary.

Compensation: $51,193 annually

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of the organization and administration of various higher education academic and social programs.
  • Familiarity with campus and community resources.
  • Awareness of state, federal, and institutional regulations related to academic and social programs.
  • Ability to coordinate activities of campus academic and/or social programs.
  • Capability to assess information and formulate recommendations.
  • Proficiency in compiling information into report format.

Qualifications

A Master's Degree in Counseling or a related field; licensed by the State of Arkansas to practice counseling or in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in consulting with campus and/or community partners serving LGBTQ+ populations.
  • Experience in counseling LGBTQ+ individuals.
  • Proficiency in Spanish.
