Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team at Utah Soccer LLC. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in supporting all aspects of our business, from soccer operations to marketing and sponsorships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft and Negotiate Agreements: Develop, review, and administer legal documents related to sponsorship agreements, intellectual property licenses, and independent contractor agreements.
  • Support Event Planning: Collaborate with our team to bring world-class entertainment and sporting events to our venues.
  • Review Marketing Materials: Ensure that all marketing and promotional materials comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage Contract Systems: Maintain organized internal records and manage contract management systems.
  • Provide Strategic Advice: Offer expert guidance on employment practices, league compliance, and local, federal, and state laws.
  • Collaborate on Compliance Activities: Work with our team to ensure compliance with employment, league regulations, and public benefits.
  • Develop and Enforce Policies: Assist in the development and enforcement of organizational policies and procedures.
  • Manage Intellectual Property: Oversee intellectual property issues, including content and music licensing, trademark, and copyright matters.
  • Interface with Government Agencies: Manage public benefits and social impact efforts, and interface with government agencies as needed.
  • Participate in League Meetings: Attend league-level legal meetings, training, and conference calls as required.
  • Support Risk Management: Assist in managing risk and insurance policy management.
  • Identify Process Improvements: Continuously identify and implement improvements in legal processes, workflows, and document templates.
  • Provide Training: Offer training on organizational policies, including youth protection and litigation hold policies.
  • Stay Current with Industry Trends: Engage in continuous learning to stay updated on industry trends and legal developments.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctorate (JD): A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the Bar: Admission to and good standing with the Utah State Bar, or ability to become admitted.
  • Relevant Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience in corporate transactional law, with experience in sports law and youth sports preferred.
  • Advanced Skills: Advanced negotiating and writing skills, with a strong ability to draft and review legal documents, analyze complex issues, and provide practical, business-oriented solutions.
  • Proven Track Record: A proven track record in managing complex legal matters, including litigation, transactions, and compliance.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with contract management systems.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage multiple tasks and subject matters efficiently.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility to handle non-traditional hours and high-energy work environments.
  • Team Player: A team player who can work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Background Check: Ability to successfully pass a background check and become SafeSport Certified.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Spanish-Bilingual: Preference will be given to candidates who are Spanish-bilingual.
