About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Fluids Valve Design Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Lunar Permanence business unit, you will play a critical role in designing and developing the next generation of cryogenic valves for our lunar program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop cryogenic valves for use on our lunar program, ensuring compliance with ASME and other relevant standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and develop valve requirements, interfaces, and specifications
  • Perform detailed design, analysis, and testing of valve components, including flow and structural integrity under pressure, vibration, temperature, and mechanical loads
  • Work with suppliers and other support organizations to procure, fabricate, and install flight hardware
  • Mentor entry-level engineers and perform technical peer reviews
Requirements
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in valve and/or mechanical/fluids component design
  • Knowledge of propulsion and fluid system components, including valves, regulators, and pumps for cryogenics, propellants, and other fluids
  • Experience designing parts in CREO and applying GD&T to create manufacturable, high-performing component drawings
  • Ability to use design analysis tools such as ANSYS and Thermal Desktop to evaluate the performance of valve designs
  • U.S. citizenship or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Engineering degree
  • Experience with static and non-linear FEA analysis (ANSYS)
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance
