Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated team player for the role of ELA Transitions Case Manager. This position is crucial in providing comprehensive support to ELA students as they transition into college-level courses, academic programs, and enhanced employment opportunities.

The ELA Transitions Case Manager will collaborate with the ELA Advising team and work within a cross-functional environment that includes advisors, case managers, counselors, faculty, and program specialists. The primary goal is to facilitate successful transitions for ELA students into college.

This role encompasses a dual responsibility: supporting broader departmental efforts to enhance transitions while delivering personalized case management services to a select group of transitioning students.

The Case Manager will guide ELA students in program selection, educational and career planning, and the development of essential college success skills. Additionally, the position will assist students in navigating the financial aid application process.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing and accessible case management support to ELA students during their transition to college-level courses or employment opportunities, including assistance with program eligibility and financial aid.
  • Utilize the state student management system for student enrollment.
  • Engage students in transitional activities, which include facilitating workshops, classroom presentations, college tours, and individual consultations, while also referring students to transitional programs such as Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (I-BEST) and Academic English (AENGL).
  • Coordinate services and collaborate with both internal and external campus partners, including Financial Aid and Career/Counseling services.
  • Focus on student engagement and retention by monitoring progress, participation, and addressing barriers; report on program outcomes and challenges.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of college certificate and degree program requirements and eligibility criteria.
  • Provide expertise in financial aid processes, including FAFSA and WASFA, while maintaining knowledge of BFET, TANF (Workfirst), Worker Retraining, and Opportunity programs.
