The Support Services Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing consumers to guarantee their safety and well-being.

This is a full-time position with benefits. The work schedule includes Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday (with Thursday and Friday off).

Key Responsibilities:


• Document and report noticeable changes in resident behavior, mood, and physical state

• Engage in or assist with re-motivation, rehabilitation, re-socialization, and behavior modification initiatives

• Instruct or support residents in self-help skills and social interactions tailored to their individual needs and capabilities

• Initiate and take part in group and/or individual activities with residents

• Accompany residents to appointments or as required

• Participate in specialized programs, including adjunctive therapies and one-on-one interactions with residents

• Provide basic nursing support such as monitoring vital signs, applying simple dressings, and ensuring daily care for residents

• Assist a physician or registered nurse with various diagnostic and treatment tasks

• Ensure a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment

• Aid in the orientation process for new residents

• Respond to emergencies as outlined by unit guidelines, including assisting residents during crises

• Prepare and maintain necessary records and reports

• Ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available

• Administer medications to clients once certified as a DMH Level 1 Medication Aide

• Obtain CPR certification within the first 90 days of employment

• Provide transportation assistance to clients as clinically necessary. Driving is a key function of this role

• Train new staff on fundamental job responsibilities (CLI Shadow Trainer only)

• Conduct follow-up training for staff as needed (CLI Shadow Trainer only)

• Communicate with clients and/or their families using sign language when required (CLI Sign Fluent only)

• Perform other assigned duties as necessary
