Job Overview:

The Project Controls Specialist (PCS) plays a crucial role in establishing project frameworks, providing training, and enhancing the skills of Field Engineers. This position is responsible for monitoring project progress, conducting cost analysis, forecasting project expenses, managing financial flows, and overseeing change management processes. The PCS collaborates closely with the Site Manager and Project Manager to ensure seamless daily operations at the project site. Additionally, this role will spearhead the training initiatives for Field Engineers to ensure comprehensive understanding and application of Primoris's operational protocols.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Mentor and guide Field Engineers to foster professional growth.

• Engage in project initiation and supervise progress tracking, cost analysis, project expense forecasting, change management, and risk mitigation strategies.

• Work in conjunction with the Project Manager to maintain project scope and manage various related activities.

• Educate and train Field Engineers and Project Administrators on Primoris's operational procedures and job responsibilities.

• Monitor project advancement and financial health, assessing costs, productivity, and efficiency.

• Assist the Project Manager and Site Manager with change orders, budget management, and financial forecasts.

• Organize project update meetings with clients and internal teams.

• Oversee project coordination platforms, managing RFIs, submittals, quality assurance documentation, and other project-related paperwork in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

• Handle engineering requests and deliverables throughout the construction phase of the project.

• Cultivate positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and team members.

• Ensure accurate and timely completion of final inventory and job site closure tasks.

• Support the Site Manager and Project Manager in the daily management of project operations.

• Collaborate with Trade Superintendents to gain insights into various work disciplines.

• Assist with subcontractor-related responsibilities, procurement requests, agreements, and deliverables.

• Provide support for permits and compliance as necessary.

• Ensure accurate capture of drawing revisions and facilitate the transition of revisions into final record drawings.

• Participate in post-project review meetings to discuss lessons learned.

• Update the project schedule on a weekly basis.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Valid driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle driving record (MVR).

• Proficiency in accounting principles (mathematics and record-keeping).

• Capability to deliver presentations to groups of up to 10 individuals.

• Familiarity with two or more disciplines (civil, electrical, mechanical, and commissioning).

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, email) and Visio.

• Strong communication skills (oral, written, presentation), motivational abilities, and supervisory experience.

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

• Project Controls Specialists are expected to relocate to the project site for the duration of each assigned construction project (average project duration is 6-12 months).
