Position Title: Building Automation Technician I

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct testing, inspection, and calibration of sensors, meters, gauges, and controllers to ensure operational accuracy.
  • Interpret and analyze control system schematics and drawings effectively.
  • Identify and assess mechanical equipment as depicted in technical drawings, including chillers, boilers, pumps, and air handling units.
  • Comprehend basic electrical control circuits, including 24VAC power and controller input/output functions.
  • Understand fundamental principles of control systems networking.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of control hardware components.
  • Implement system graphics in accordance with project specifications.
  • Replace faulty wiring and tubing as necessary.
  • Document calibrations performed, components utilized, and maintain an inventory of parts.
  • Create schematic drawings and reports to document modifications made to instruments, circuits, and systems.
  • Monitor and diagnose potential issues through computer analysis and on-site evaluations.
  • Collaborate with installation and maintenance teams to facilitate the installation, repair, or modification of controlled systems and equipment.
  • Manage equipment operational schedules and generate system reports detailing trends and historical data.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably in Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of at least one HVAC control system (preferably Tridium, Distech, Delta, JCI, or Andover).
  • Understanding of mechanical systems and their operations.
  • Engineering skills should encompass electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and programming.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Experience in control system architecture design, programming, or maintenance is preferred.
  • Good computer skills with a solid understanding of controls networking.
  • A valid driver's license is required, and candidates must meet MVR standards to operate a company vehicle.
