We are currently seeking a Medical Appointment Clerk for a full-time contract role. This position involves managing medical appointment scheduling and assessing patient eligibility for services through various communication methods.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Schedule medical appointments and verify patient eligibility for services through phone calls, secure messaging, or other appointment request methods.

- Assist Primary Care Managers (PCM) by processing appointment requests and ensuring timely access to care during the allocation of standard appointment types.

- Maintain appointment schedules utilizing a government computer system, including Composite Health Care Systems (CHCS), AHLTA, or MHS GENESIS.

- Validate patient eligibility through appropriate booking channels, including the Defense Eligibility Report System (DEERS).

- Keep accurate and current patient schedules and logs.

- Receive and electronically relay telephone messages to PCMs and/or clinic nurses using the government computer system, adhering to standard protocols and clinic guidelines.

- If in a lead clerk role, attendance at the clinic Access to Care Meeting is mandatory for central booking representation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Proficient in operating office equipment, including personal computers, copiers, fax machines, and telephone systems.
  • Minimum of six months experience in medical office scheduling.
  • Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute.
  • Familiarity with systems such as Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), Composite Health Care Systems (CHCS), and/or MHS GENESIS; Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) is preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication skills in English.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and adaptability.
  • Understanding of medical ethics and telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
