Healthcare Appointment Coordinator

We are seeking a Medical Appointment Clerk for a full-time contract role. This position involves working within a structured schedule, typically Monday through Friday, during standard business hours.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Coordinating medical appointments and assessing patient eligibility for services through various communication methods.
- Assisting Primary Care Managers (PCMs) by processing appointment requests and ensuring timely access to care.
- Utilizing government computer systems to maintain and update appointment schedules effectively.
- Verifying patient eligibility through the Defense Eligibility Report System (DEERS).
- Keeping accurate records of patient schedules and logs.
- Receiving and relaying messages to PCMs and clinic staff using established protocols and guidelines.
- Participating in mandatory meetings if in a lead clerk capacity to represent central booking.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Proficiency in operating office equipment, including computers, copiers, and telecommunication systems.
- A minimum of six months experience in medical office scheduling.
- Typing speed of at least 50 words per minute.
- Familiarity with systems such as AHLTA, CHCS, and DEERS is preferred.
- Strong verbal communication skills in English.
- Exceptional customer service abilities and adaptability.
- Understanding of medical ethics and telephone etiquette.
- Capability to follow detailed instructions and procedures.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Hourly wage of $16.20, along with:
- Health and welfare benefits.
