Job Summary

University of Toledo Physicians is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our team. As a key member of our front office staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Front Desk Operations
    • Answer and direct phone calls in a timely and professional manner
    • Greet patients, visitors, and staff in a friendly and helpful manner
    • Prepare and maintain accurate patient records and documentation
  • Patient Scheduling
    • Schedule patient appointments and procedures in a timely and efficient manner
    • Verify patient demographic information and insurance details
    • Manage patient waitlists and notify patients of appointment changes or cancellations
  • Financial Transactions
    • Process patient payments and manage cash handling procedures
    • Verify patient insurance coverage and process claims
    • Manage patient accounts and resolve billing discrepancies
  • Communication and Customer Service
    • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff
    • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and other healthcare professionals
    • Respond to patient inquiries and resolve concerns in a timely and professional manner
Requirements
  • Education
    • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Skills
    • Prior experience with a multi-line telephone system
    • Data entry and key boarding skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Organization and ability to multi-task as needed
    • Critical thinking skills
  • Experience
    • 6 months of healthcare industry experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education
    • Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree
  • Skills
    • Understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
    • Knowledge of EMR software
  • Experience
    • 2+ years of relevant experience
