The client marketing division plays a crucial role in managing the firm's daily marketing activities, supporting our investment solutions, products, and fund offerings. This team collaborates with investment, business development, and Brand & Communications teams to create a balanced mix of tailored and standard materials at every stage of the client journey. This includes overseeing the project management and execution of successful marketing plans for commingled fund launches through to closing strategies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong competitive awareness, a deep understanding of alternative investment strategies, and the ability to prioritize capital-raising initiatives that enhance pipeline engagement, as well as support the firm in developing advanced pitch materials and final presentations.
As a member of the client marketing leadership team, this individual will work collaboratively to innovate and modernize the client marketing function. Additionally, they will lead a team responsible for the comprehensive client marketing experience and the fundraising materials essential for our ongoing business growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish a framework for messaging related to Investment Strategy and Asset Class, informed by competitive analysis and best practices to identify areas for enhancement.
- Manage, nurture, and mentor a small team of marketing professionals focused on various marketing projects across investment strategies.
- Develop and formalize product launch and closing strategies, understanding the defined sales cycle phases and the appropriate integration of marketing tactics to drive engagement and capital raising efforts.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of GCM Grosvenor's alternative investment offerings, including technical knowledge of performance reporting across private and public capabilities and compliance regulations regarding marketing.
- Inspire and cultivate marketing awareness and skills within the marketing team, fostering a culture of credible marketing excellence and innovation.
- Support organizational initiatives aimed at modernizing client marketing efforts.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will possess the following experience and competencies:
- 8-12 years of experience in investment management marketing, with a minimum of two years in alternative investments.
- At least 3 years of experience managing a small team, with a strong commitment to training and developing junior team members.
- In-depth understanding of the institutional marketplace, investor segments, and alternative sales cycles.
- Technical proficiency and the ability to impart foundational knowledge in alternative investments.
- Strong grasp of best practices in global investment marketing and distribution channels.
- Comprehensive knowledge of compliance regulations related to marketing alternative investments; a Series 24 license is preferred but not mandatory.
- Extensive experience in leading strategies for institutional capital raising campaigns, employing a wide range of modern marketing tactics.
- Exceptional leadership qualities, a proactive attitude, and a passion for marketing and innovation.
- Excellent collaboration skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting new ideas and strategic plans to senior leadership.
- Outstanding decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- High integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- BA/BS degree in Marketing or a related field.
