Position Overview

Role Summary:

The HR Lead position is pivotal in providing human resources partnership, support, and expertise to our New Jersey office throughout the employee lifecycle. This role encompasses various HR functions, including employee relations, benefits administration, onboarding, transfers, departures, recruitment, performance management, and compensation for the Business Services Team.

The HR Lead will oversee the HR operations and team for the New Jersey location while being an integral part of the broader HR community across North America.

Key Responsibilities:

For New Jersey Office Employees:

  1. Employee Relations:
    • Collaborate with operational associates, human capital specialists, organizational consultants, managers, and employees to address workplace and employee relations matters; provide guidance and seek solutions that balance individual, firm, and functional needs.
    • Interpret and implement HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and adherence.
    • Engage with the internal legal team on employment-related issues as necessary.
    • Offer advice and counsel on best practices while generating options for favorable outcomes.
  2. Benefits Administration:
    • Provide general support to New Jersey employees regarding benefits offerings.
    • Coordinate with the US Benefits team to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of benefits information.
    • Engage the US Benefits team to address issues or inquiries.
    • Oversee leaves of absence, workers' compensation, short-term disability, long-term disability, and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) in accordance with policies and regulations.
  3. Onboarding, Transfers, and Departures:
    • Facilitate the smooth transition of new hires, deliver orientation and benefits training, and coordinate the onboarding process.
    • Manage the preparation of offer letters and temporary contracts, including background checks; coordinate secondments to meet staffing needs.
    • Oversee complex internal transfers, which may involve movements between functions, offices, or countries.
    • Coordinate the US immigration process by collaborating with regional immigration teams, global mobility teams, legal counsel, and expatriates to secure employment authorization.
    • Maintain all employee files, including employment documents, I-9s, immigration records, benefits, and EEO tracking for New Jersey.
    • Manage the full Career Transition Process, including all related documentation and exit processes.
  4. For the Business Services Team (BST):
    • Work closely with hiring managers to identify staffing needs, define role descriptions, determine candidate skills, and establish compensation.
    • Lead the sourcing, interviewing, and hiring processes.
  5. BST Compensation:
    • Collaborate with organizational consultants and regional teams to set base compensation for BST hires in line with guidelines and benchmarking.
    • Provide guidance to ensure equity in compensation across functions.
  6. BST Performance Management:
    • Manage the annual performance management process for New Jersey BST employees, including goal setting and performance reviews.
    • Ensure consistent interpretation and application of performance management guidelines.
    • Provide effective advice, coaching, and guidance to employees and managers as needed.
    • Support managers and employees throughout the performance management process with accurate information.
    • Promote a strong leadership and coaching environment; create and oversee Performance Improvement Plans.
    • Assist managers in identifying development opportunities for employees.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. New Jersey HR Team:
    • Supervise the local HR Associate and oversee day-to-day activities.
    • Foster a stimulating work environment through effective communication; motivate and develop team members.
  2. Office Management and Leadership:
    • Partner with operational associates, partner teams, and functional leadership to address HR matters and understand business challenges.
    • Drive the agenda for functional leadership meetings and participate in crisis management teams.
    • Engage in the broader HR community by participating in regional initiatives and projects.
    • Perform other duties and work on special projects as directed.

Basic Job Requirements:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • Five or more years of human resources management experience in a progressive HR department or professional services organization.
