About the Role

Rare is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Associate, Fisheries and Marine Science to join our team. As a key member of our global programs, you will be responsible for conducting fisheries and ecological data analysis, providing training and supporting tools for site implementation teams and partners, and managing and delivering science-specific aspects of our programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fisheries and Ecological Data Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of fisheries and ecological data to inform our program implementation and decision-making.
  • Training and Capacity Building: Provide training and supporting tools for site implementation teams and partners to enhance their knowledge and skills in fisheries and marine science.
  • Program Management: Manage and deliver science-specific aspects of our programs, including Managed Access and Reserves (MA+R) design, Coastal Fisheries Resource Management (CFRM) planning, and Harvest Control Measures.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key resource person for fisheries science for various partners to implement our Fish Forever scale strategy.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Fisheries Science or Marine Biology.
  • Experience: Proven experience in analyzing and presenting results on small-scale fisheries data, preferably using R.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, including the ability to effectively engage with staff and partners at all levels in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel for up to 70% of the time.
  • Language: Written and verbal fluency in English.
