About the Role

Rare is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Associate for Fisheries and Marine Science to join our team. As a key member of our global programs, you will be responsible for conducting fisheries and ecological data analysis, providing training and supporting tools for site implementation teams and partners, and managing and delivering science-specific aspects of our programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fisheries and Ecological Data Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of fisheries and ecological data in collaboration with our program implementation team and Fish Forever global team.
  • Training and Capacity Building: Provide fisheries and ecological training and supporting tools for site implementation teams and partners to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Program Management: Manage and deliver science-specific aspects of our programs, including Managed Access and Reserves (MA+R) design, Coastal Fisheries Resource Management (CFRM) planning in sites, and Harvest Control Measures.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key resource person for fisheries science for various partners to implement the Fish Forever scale strategy.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Fisheries Science (expertise in population dynamics preferred) or Marine Biology.
  • Experience: Proven experience in analyzing and presenting results on small-scale fisheries data (preferably using R).
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, including the ability to effectively engage with staff and partners at all levels in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel for up to 70% of the time.
  • Language: Written and verbal fluency in English.
