Job Overview:


The role involves supporting, coordinating, and assisting in the execution of corporate safety initiatives and protocols at designated project sites to foster secure work environments and ensure adherence to both internal and external safety regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:
- Execute all fundamental responsibilities associated with the Project/Safety Engineer Intern role.
- Collaborate with project teams to implement safety programs, policies, and procedures effectively.
- Aid in the development and maintenance of a site-specific safety plan that aligns with internal standards and contractual obligations.
- Facilitate coordination of project safety initiatives with subcontractors and trade partners.

- Engage in job walks, meetings, and other field operations to enhance understanding of safety practices and methodologies.

- Assist in pre-job safety planning sessions to identify potential hazards before project commencement.
- Review job hazard analyses (JHAs) to comprehend the scope of work and mitigate risks.
- Observe and support field verification processes and assess work in progress.
- Participate in audits and assist in the implementation of a pre-task planning framework.

- Conduct site safety inspections, audits, and reporting to ensure compliance with company safety standards and external regulatory requirements, including OSHA.

- Help in the preparation of site safety checklists and other necessary safety documentation.
- Identify Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) hazards, assess issues, and support project teams in developing effective solutions.

- Collaborate closely with safety and project teams to observe and assist in incident/accident investigations, including analyzing injuries and property damage incidents.

- Aid in identifying root causes of incidents/accidents; partner with project teams to prepare and distribute accurate report summaries and documentation.
- Work in conjunction with safety and project teams to assist in the execution of corrective action plans.
- Observe and assist in the formulation of emergency response plans to gain knowledge of emergency procedures.
- Maintain precise recordkeeping and management of safety documentation.
- Participate in regular safety meetings and project/field team discussions.
- Assist in onboarding new hires and coordinating safety-related events.
- Conduct general training sessions on safety programs, protocols, and best practices.
- Support safety certification coordination and tracking, including basic first aid training.

- Ensure that project sites have the necessary safety documents displayed, and order and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), first aid supplies, and safety materials.

- Communicate any changes to safety programs mandated by corporate, legal, or other requirements to project teams.
- Attend conferences, training sessions, and workshops to stay updated on knowledge and maintain accreditations.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or certification in EHS, Construction Management, or a related field is advantageous.
- 1-3 years of experience in construction and/or safety-related roles preferred, or a comparable combination of field and safety experience.
- Field experience is a plus (e.g., carpenter).
- Basic understanding of schedule reviews and identification of high-risk activities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
- Basic computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams).
- Familiarity with BIM 360 and CMIC (construction management software) is a plus; willingness to learn is essential.
- Self-motivated individual capable of exercising independent judgment.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical capabilities.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and cultivate strong working relationships.
- OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications are advantageous or can be obtained.
- Bilingual fluency (English and Spanish) is required.
