Job Overview

Location: This position requires the applicant to work from our office one day per week.


Position Summary:

The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for guiding the software development team through all phases of the software development life cycle. This includes design, development, coding, testing, and debugging to ensure the delivery of top-notch solutions. The Lead Software Engineer excels in problem-solving, adept at eliminating obstacles, and thrives in a collaborative environment, creating comprehensive solutions and integrations for diverse business applications.

Reporting Structure:
This role reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mentors and coaches the software development team to enhance performance.
  • Manages multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of technical solutions, contributing to the team's success at the coding level.
  • Works closely with the development team to ensure accurate fulfillment of requirements.
  • Provides realistic project timeline estimates from design through to delivery.
  • Regularly updates project status to address requirements, issues, or changes.
  • Evaluates various software products, offering peer reviews and solutions to related code.
  • Adheres to established development principles, delivering solutions on time and within budget.
  • Defines product life cycle phases, including activities and milestones.
  • Implements a documentation process for project events and risk management.
  • Participates in project review meetings to share progress updates.
  • Coordinates with internal teams to ensure seamless implementation of current and new systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PHP, JavaScript, Bash, Batch).
  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#, Go).
  • Solid understanding of HTML and CSS.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Experience with agile methodologies is preferred.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to rapidly changing environments.
  • Detail-oriented with a capacity to review large datasets for accuracy.
  • Professional demeanor to foster and maintain relationships.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of maintaining confidential and meticulous records.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent education/experience required, along with five years of software development experience, including at least one year in a leadership role.
