Contract Job Overview: Automation and Control Strategies (ACS Pro Staffing) is seeking a qualified individual to join our team. This Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for maintaining essential software that supports power grid operations.

This role involves working on Energy Management Systems (EMS) that oversee and manage the grid in real-time, including SCADA systems and dispatcher training simulators.

The position encompasses the full software development lifecycle, from initial design and coding to security and ongoing maintenance. You will collaborate with various teams responsible for the physical infrastructure of the grid. This is a full-time remote position.

Compensation:
$72.92 per hour Benefits:

Responsibilities:
Participation in Large and Small Projects - you may be assigned to project teams to provide expertise, recommendations, and assistance on software programming and development components for significant projects; or may be tasked with smaller projects to manage from inception to completion.

Project Responsibilities May Include:

Offering insights and recommendations to project teams on programming and software solutions for large projects. Providing expertise and guidance on software components of significant projects. Planning, developing, and proposing software initiatives for managerial consideration, such as automating processes.

Coordinating projects and designing software to ensure new operational requirements can be integrated while maintaining the continuous availability of existing systems.

Collaborating with stakeholders and users to define or refine programming and scripting needs as requested. Developing, testing, and deploying n-tier C# .Net applications. Designing, documenting, and communicating effective technical solutions that meet end-user requirements. Interpreting design requirements and assisting in technical design on related projects. Collaborating with software developers, testers, and users throughout the System Development Life Cycle.

Researching new and emerging technologies to assess their applicability to application development and maintenance, as well as for supporting operational needs.


Problem Resolution and Troubleshooting:
Participating in an on-call rotation for assigned systems.

Analyzing existing failures and electronic problem reports, including those related to hardware interfaces, to trace and identify the root causes of issues.

Collaborating with hardware staff, dispatchers, telecom, and field personnel to develop and recommend solutions. Creating and implementing software solutions and procedures to recover from malfunctions, minimizing downtime. Designing and writing diagnostic software to assist hardware personnel in identifying and resolving hardware issues. Identifying and addressing problems in software across all system tiers (Application, Server, Database, Network).

Operational Support:

Monitoring system performance to determine necessary adjustments and to identify future changes. Making recommendations for corrective actions and implementing them as approved. Designing and installing software modifications, following established procedures, to enhance performance.

Drafting and recommending new or revised Control Center (CC) functional, security, and testing procedures to address system issues and changes.

These procedures are developed for use by mission-critical CC support staff.
