Lead Software Engineer

Location: This role requires in-office presence once a week.
Position Summary:
The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for guiding the software development team through all phases of the software development life cycle. This includes design, development, coding, testing, and debugging to ensure the delivery of top-notch solutions. The Lead Software Engineer excels in problem-solving, adept at eliminating obstacles, and thrives in a collaborative environment, crafting comprehensive solutions and integrations for various business applications. This role also involves contributing to work program planning and reviewing, developing, and refining best practices and technical solutions while managing work assignments to guarantee compliance with established procedures, protocols, and standards.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentors and coaches the software development team to enhance their performance.
- Manages multiple projects concurrently.
- Possesses a strong understanding of available technical solutions and contributes to team success at the coding level.
- Collaborates with the development team to ensure accurate fulfillment of requirements.
- Provides realistic estimates for project timelines from design through to delivery.
- Delivers regular project status updates to address any requirements, issues, or changes.
- Evaluates various software products, offering peer reviews and solutions to related code.
- Adheres to established development principles, delivering solutions on time and within budget.
- Defines phases in the product life cycle, including activities and milestones.
- Implements a documentation process, such as project event and risk logs or other necessary reporting.
- Participates in project review meetings to provide updates on progress.
- Coordinates with internal teams to ensure alignment for seamless implementation of current and new systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PHP, JavaScript, Bash, Batch).
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#, Go).
- Solid understanding of HTML and CSS.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with agile methodologies is preferred.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to rapidly changing environments.
- Detail-oriented with the capacity to review large datasets for accuracy.
- Professional demeanor to foster and enhance relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a complex, fast-paced environment.
- Maintains confidentiality and meticulous records.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent education/experience required.
Minimum of five years of experience in software development, including at least one year in a leadership role.
