About the Role

At The Ladders, we are seeking a committed Financial Operations Manager to enhance our finance team. In this pivotal position, you will be tasked with:

  • Financial Oversight: Utilizing various financial systems to oversee and analyze financial aid expenditures, obligations, and commitments across departments to discern spending trends related to Federal, State, or local funds.
  • Expenditure Projections: Estimating expenditures and appropriate enrollment levels for financial aid, while identifying and documenting trends that may influence these projections.
  • Reporting: Compiling monthly billing reports and necessary financial statements for submission to funding sources, ensuring all expenditures are accurately reported each billing cycle.
  • Expense Analysis: Reviewing and investigating expense trends, reconciling transactions by comparing and correcting data discrepancies.
  • Financial Modeling: Developing financial models, conducting benchmarking, and performing process analysis to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Performance Review: Analyzing past, present, and comparative performance to create forecast models that guide strategic decisions.
  • Cost Management: Conducting cost-benefit analyses, proposing cost-saving measures, and ensuring compliance with funding stipulations.
  • Budget Tracking: Monitoring expenses and revenues against the budget, reforecasting, and analyzing any fluctuations.
  • Monthly Closures: Leading the closing processes for monthly and program year accounting periods.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assessing financial status by comparing actual results with budgets and forecasts.
  • Reviewing and approving direct service payments up to $50,000 for accuracy.
  • Advising program managers through data analysis and comparative assessments.
  • Enhancing financial performance by analyzing results, monitoring variances, and recommending actions to management.
  • Overseeing contract budgets and making necessary amendments; assisting in the budgeting and reforecasting processes.
  • Providing essential accounting information to managers and program leaders as required.
  • Fostering analytical and technical skills to improve accuracy and productivity; assisting in training initiatives for staff development.
  • Maintaining open communication with program staff regarding reports, requirements, and anticipated expenses.
