Your role and responsibilities

In this engaging position, you will lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT), installation, commissioning, testing, and handover activities on-site, serving as the primary point of contact for the client. You will oversee on-site presence throughout the project, ensuring effective coordination and seamless execution of all work activities. Your expertise will be showcased as you plan, schedule, and coordinate service resources in accordance with established guidelines. The work model for this role is: #LI-Remote. Your key responsibilities include:
  • Planning project on-site activities in collaboration with the Project Manager, including necessary local resources, equipment, and milestones.
  • Facilitating agreements between the client and external resources regarding construction objectives, health and safety standards, site organization, and policies.
  • Overseeing all on-site activities from the moment the assigned site area is received from the client or Project Manager until handover to the end customer upon completion, ensuring successful execution of start-up, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning activities in line with contract specifications, quality standards, schedules, and safety requirements.
  • Ensuring a comprehensive and current construction Health & Safety (H&S) plan is established for each work package, compliant with the ABB H&S plan.
  • Guaranteeing that all on-site personnel are adequately trained on company health, safety, and environmental policies while actively promoting health and safety considerations to project partners throughout the project.
  • Having the authority to halt any activities on-site (whether by ABB personnel or subcontractors) in case of HSE violations and taking necessary measures to ensure the safety of ABB employees and other individuals present.
  • Managing the proper handling, storage, and installation of ABB-delivered equipment, coordinating on-site storage and shipment logistics to ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials.
  • Supervising subcontractors on-site hired by ABB to ensure quality and progress meet delivery dates and agreed standards.
  • Controlling project costs for site work, monitoring actual expenditures against forecasts, and estimating final costs.
  • Managing petty cash and exercising delegated authority for local purchasing within agreed limits.
  • Ensuring all documentation is updated as necessary, maintaining the document handling system, and utilizing the latest revisions for construction work on-site.
  • Ensuring that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled, and directed with HR support.
  • Guiding, motivating, and developing direct and indirect reports in accordance with HR policies.
  • Coordinating local accommodation, site facilities, office equipment, etc.
Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Management or equivalent (work experience involving scheduling, construction management, coordination, OSHA standards, budget management, communication skills, quality control, contractual requirements, and proficiency in MS Office/Google Office suite will be considered).
  • 5+ years of field service project experience with an electrical OEM, with a focus on leading long-term field assignments and field quality assurance delivery.
  • Willingness to travel 80-100% of the time within North America and ability to be away from home for extended periods.
  • Strong understanding of site commissioning and oversight of engineered solutions, including IEC61850 projects.
  • Experience leading start-up teams responsible for ABB and GE Low Voltage and Medium Voltage electrical equipment, relays, and PRN networks is preferred.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary site teams of electrical field engineers and technicians, as well as third-party contractors, is preferred.
  • Candidates must possess work authorization that permits them to work for ABB in the US.
