The Estate/Gift/Trust tax division is in search of a Manager or Senior Manager with a robust background in servicing high net worth individuals and family offices. This role involves managing multiple client relationships and providing guidance on various individual income, trust, estate, and gift tax consulting and compliance matters. Our Estate/Gift/Trust tax division is distinctive as we frequently collaborate with clients (and their legal advisors as necessary) to offer counsel and structure estate plans, encompassing both charitable and non-charitable gifting, trust establishment, and income and transfer tax strategies. Alongside consulting, we also prepare pertinent tax returns resulting from the execution of these plans. Our professionals gain extensive expertise in the Estate/Gift/Trust specialty through their involvement in both consulting and compliance for these affluent individuals.

Holthouse Carlin & Van Trigt LLP operates under a hybrid working model. Employees are expected to work at their designated office a minimum of two days per week, with flexibility for those for whom this is not geographically feasible. Participation in mandatory firm events and meetings (e.g., training sessions, team-building activities, client engagements) is also expected.

As a Manager in our Tax service line, your responsibilities will include:
  • Delivering tax compliance and advisory services to High Net Worth Individuals, including their closely held businesses, trusts, and exempt organizations.
  • Collaborating closely with clients and their advisors to provide guidance on income tax matters and related planning.
  • Establishing and nurturing strong client relationships with client personnel and prospective clients.
  • Identifying and proposing solutions to complex income tax challenges.
  • Possessing experience in individual income tax, gift tax, estate tax, and trust taxation; estate planning experience is advantageous.
  • Exhibiting excellent research skills and the ability to investigate complex tax issues.
  • Ensuring the quality of work produced.
  • Overseeing the planning and scheduling of engagements.
  • Monitoring workflow effectively.
  • Coaching and mentoring individual team members.
  • Providing both formal and informal feedback.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to leverage firm technology to enhance client service.
  • Proficiency in Thomson Reuters, GoSystem, ProSystems/Axcess, or equivalent software is required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field; a Master's Degree, J.D., or LLM is a plus.
  • Licensed CPA.

This salary range is specific to the state(s) listed and considers various factors in making compensation decisions, including skill set, education, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the range for this position is $140,000 to $180,000.
