Position Overview

The Community Development Specialist plays a vital role in fostering relationships and promoting initiatives that align with the mission of Georgia United Credit Union. This position involves various responsibilities aimed at enhancing community engagement and ensuring effective resource allocation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Budget Management: Assists in the formulation of the annual Community Development budget and schedules activities for local markets. Monitors and records expenditures, donation activities, and donor communications.
  • Program Evaluation: Coordinates tools to assess and measure both internal and external giving programs, ensuring effective tracking of contributions.
  • Committee Support: Aids the Foundation Advisory Committee and Board of Directors in their communications and fundraising efforts.
  • Event Coordination: Helps organize community programs, ensuring alignment with the credit union's values and mission. Manages marketing plans, budgets, and timelines for events.
  • Sponsorship Management: Supports sponsorship initiatives, ensuring they align with the Foundation's goals. Handles correspondence and represents the credit union at related functions.
  • Fundraising Participation: Engages in charitable events, acting as a liaison for partners and managing funds collected from various stakeholders.
  • Volunteer Promotion: Collaborates with HR to promote volunteer opportunities and encourages participation in payroll deduction programs.
  • Foundation Transition: Assists in the transition from a private to a public foundation model, including grant applications and strategies to enhance donations.
  • Community Communication: Resolves inquiries and issues professionally, ensuring effective community outreach.
  • Marketing Collaboration: Works alongside the Marketing team to ensure successful program implementation and community engagement.
  • Media Relations: Identifies and builds relationships with media partners to promote community initiatives and enhance brand awareness.
  • Knowledge Development: Stays informed on best practices in public and media relations to benefit overall company initiatives.
  • Management Reporting: Keeps management updated on community activities and any significant concerns.
  • Special Projects: Completes additional projects as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the organization.
