Position Overview

The Community Development Specialist plays a pivotal role in enhancing community engagement and fostering relationships that align with the mission of Georgia United Credit Union. This position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at supporting community initiatives and ensuring effective communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Budget Management: Assist in the formulation of the annual budget and activity calendar for community development, while diligently monitoring expenditures and donor interactions.
  • Program Evaluation: Coordinate tools to assess and measure the effectiveness of internal and external giving programs.
  • Committee Support: Provide assistance to the Foundation Advisory Committee and Board, facilitating communication and fundraising activities.
  • Event Coordination: Help organize community programs, ensuring alignment with organizational values and objectives, while managing marketing strategies and budgets.
  • Sponsorship Oversight: Support sponsorship initiatives, ensuring they align with the Foundation's mission, and manage related correspondence and payments.
  • Fundraising Participation: Engage in charitable events, acting as a liaison for partners and distributing collected funds as necessary.
  • Volunteer Promotion: Collaborate with HR to encourage volunteer opportunities and promote payroll deduction programs.
  • Foundation Transition Support: Assist in the transition from a private to a public foundation model, including grant applications and enhancing donation efforts.
  • Community Communication: Address inquiries and issues professionally, ensuring effective community outreach.
  • Marketing Collaboration: Work alongside the Marketing team to ensure the success of community programs.
  • Policy Development: Partner with leadership to establish community development guidelines and respond to sponsorship requests.
  • Media Relations: Identify and cultivate relationships with media partners to promote community initiatives.
  • Brand Awareness: Utilize media channels to enhance public knowledge of community programs.
  • Professional Development: Stay informed on best practices in public and media relations through continuous learning.
  • Management Reporting: Keep management updated on community activities and significant concerns.
  • Special Projects: Complete additional projects as assigned, contributing to the overall mission of the organization.
