Position Overview

The Community Development Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing the outreach and impact of Georgia United Credit Union through strategic planning and execution of community initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Budget Management: Assists in the formulation of the annual budget and calendar for community development activities across local markets. Responsible for tracking and documenting expenditures, donor interactions, and comprehensive reporting for both Georgia United and GUCU Foundation.
  • Program Evaluation: Develops and maintains tracking tools to assess the effectiveness of internal and external giving programs, including payroll deductions and online contributions.
  • Committee Support: Aids the Foundation Advisory Committee and Board of Directors in their communications and fundraising endeavors.
  • Event Coordination: Facilitates community programs aligned with the credit union's mission, managing marketing strategies, budgets, timelines, and event logistics.
  • Sponsorship Management: Ensures that sponsorships align with the Foundation's mission, handling correspondence and representing the credit union at sponsored events.
  • Fundraising Participation: Engages in charitable events, acting as a liaison for partners and distributing funds collected from various stakeholders.
  • Volunteer Promotion: Collaborates with HR to advocate for volunteer opportunities and promote payroll deduction programs among team members.
  • Foundation Transition Support: Assists in the transition from a private to a public foundation model, including grant applications and exploring avenues for increased donations.
  • Community Communication: Addresses inquiries and resolves issues professionally, ensuring effective community outreach.
  • Marketing Collaboration: Works alongside the Marketing department to enhance program visibility and success.
  • Policy Development: Partners with the department Director to establish community development guidelines and respond to sponsorship requests.
  • Media Relations: Identifies and cultivates relationships with media partners to promote community initiatives and enhance brand awareness.
  • Knowledge Development: Stays informed on best practices in public and media relations through continuous learning.
  • Management Reporting: Keeps management updated on community activities and any significant concerns.
  • Special Projects: Completes additional projects as assigned, contributing to the overall mission of the organization.
  • Relationship Building: Fosters strong, positive relationships within the organization, aligning with the company’s core values.
