The University of Minnesota is seeking an Academic Program Coordinator to oversee the operational execution and evaluation of key educational initiatives within the Swenson College of Science and Engineering. This role will be pivotal in managing four distinguished programs: the Learning Assistants initiative, the Sustainability Living Learning Community, the Summer Math Bridge initiative, and the Transfer Student Mentoring program.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position are categorized as follows:
- Program Development and Management (60%)
- Conduct assessments and evaluations of programs for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as the primary contact for program-related inquiries from students and campus partners.
- Oversee budget management and expenditures.
- Collaborate with faculty involved in the programs.
- Design and implement community-building activities that are signature to the college.
- Assist in formulating policies and procedures for student engagement in programs.
- Student Recruitment and Supervision (30%)
- Recruit new students to participate in the programs.
- Engage current students to serve as mentors and support staff.
- Manage the hiring process for student workers, including tracking documentation and compensation adjustments.
- Instruction and Outreach (10%)
- Facilitate UST 1000 courses for the Sustainability Living Learning Community and Transfer Students.
- Maintain program visibility through web and social media platforms.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of three years of related professional experience, or a related master's degree with proven competency in the role.
Preferred:
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and planning abilities.
- Interest in STEM fields.
- Experience in direct student engagement within programmatic contexts.
- Background in student affairs or higher education.
- Ability to foster relationships with campus partners to enhance program success.
