Position Overview

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is in search of a Program Quality Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement robust technical expertise in quality engineering, standards, drawing interpretation, measurement techniques, analytical methods, processes, and relevant technologies.
  • Diagnose and address intricate technical and quality challenges on the production floor utilizing problem-solving methodologies, root cause analysis, and corrective action strategies.
  • Oversee and validate quality in accordance with statistical processes and other control measures.
  • Collaborate with external quality teams in data collection, problem resolution, and risk management to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Communicate program execution updates and quality metrics to a diverse audience of professionals and leadership.
  • Assess and review non-conforming materials for compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Provide engineering and manufacturing support for the inspection and quality engineering team, assisting in corrective action boards and data analysis.
  • Facilitate Root Cause and Corrective Action initiatives effectively.
  • Conduct floor assessments and audits in partnership with the compliance team.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 3 years with a Master's; 0 years with a PhD.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to present to senior management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Manufacturing Quality.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems such as SAP.
  • Proven experience in leading projects and teams.
  • Knowledge of quality specifications including ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management System, as well as IPC Industry Standards (J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620).
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to interpret military and commercial specifications.
  • Competence in interpreting CAD data, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Foundation in Quality and Mission Excellence applications.
  • Capacity to work within cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
  • Willingness to travel 25-50% for vendor visits and site assessments.

Salary range is competitive and reflects the responsibilities of the position along with the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
